It’s taken me a few days to get round to reviewing The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta, simply because I’m still finding it difficult to come up with appropriate words to use. The Black Flamingo is… Just beautiful, from the words, the story, the verse, to the packaging, the artwork. It’s adorable.
Michael, the main character, has a direction. He knew where he was going and he got there. I can’t say anything else that isn’t going to spoil the tale – because this isn’t a story, it’s a tale. A tale for the ages. And it’s just beautiful (did I say that already?)
I defy you not to love it.
