The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley by Shaun David Hutchinson

The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley

The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley by Shaun David Hutchinson is a thinker.

Hiding from “Death” after an accident takes his entire family, Andrew Brawley spends his life in the hospital, hiding from the employees and his past. Until he meets Rusty, and his life is forever changed.

I enjoyed this immensely, if “enjoyed” is the right word for such a heavy read. I finished it just 5 minutes ago so I’m still processing it, but on the whole it was a great read. It deals with some dark subjects (and I probably shouldn’t have taken it on holiday with me!) But it’s a very sensitive read and it WILL put your emotions on high alert. I felt the ending was a little rushed and also just that little bit predictable, and there was one scene that I felt almost destroyed my enjoyment of the text, but I can forgive the author because of the feels at the end. The intensity with which Hutchinson writes will stay with me for a long time.

4 stars. 4.5 for the interior artwork.

★★★★☆
